To create a recurring subscription, you'll either create a product or an invoice.
These work great for retainer models or if you'd like to set an end date for a subscription to expire after a certain number of payments.
Within a subscription, the payment method on file will automatically charge on the billing date each month.
When to use:
- Use a product if you do not have a client in mind and want to create a subscription or retainer as a service offering that you have.
- Use an invoice if you do have a client in mind and want to send them a recurring subscription on a specific cadence each week/month/etc...
Create subscriptions via a product
There are no changes to the standard process for creating a product on Practice. The addition of the subscription allows you to manage the frequency. The definition of each frequency is as follows:
One time: One-time payment that does not repeat
Subscription: recurs on a specific frequency
If you decide that you'd like the subscription to recur on a cadence, then you can also select if the product/subscription should end after a period of time.
Create subscriptions via an invoice
If you've decided to create the subscription via an invoice, you'll create the invoice in the standard workflow (client name, etc...) but there are a few changes to consider:
The memo title
The field "memo" will act as the name of your subscription. This is viewable to the coach/client and used in the invoice itself.
Customize the payment cadence
Similar to a product, you can set the frequency to either be one-time (invoice will be sent once) or for the invoice to recur in a subscription:
Once the details of the invoice are finalized, you'll have the option to schedule this invoice/subscription for a date in the future. Learn more about scheduled invoices here.
